What is CAT exam?

There are many people in our country who want to do their favorite course and fulfill their dreams. One of these courses is MBA. Today MBA has become a popular course in India and people want to enter Business Administration by completing it.

But to enter this course, we have to go through the entrance exam, in which after being successful, we get admission in MBA course. CAT exam is conducted for MBA, which is considered to be one of the toughest entrance exams in India. What is CAT exam

CAT is an entrance exam which is conducted through online medium in about 156 cities of the country. After passing this exam, students get admission in masters courses of famous management colleges of the country.  Big companies of India come to these famous colleges to provide employment opportunities to the students after completing their masters degree.

This exam is conducted every year and currently more engineering students are preparing for CAT exam so that their dreams can come true. CAT exam is conducted by IIMS. It is not easy for the students to give this exam, due to which this exam is considered one of the toughest exams in India.

Full form of CAT
The full form of CAT is "Common Admission Test" which is conducted by Indian Institutes of Management. Every year students give this exam with great enthusiasm.

Eligibility and Criteria for CAT Exam

Before giving almost every exam, students have to follow some eligibility and criteria of that exam. Similarly, there are some eligibility criteria for CAT exam too which you have to follow. These eligibility and criteria are as follows:-

This entrance exam is for Masters degree course, so it is necessary for the student to have a Bachelors degree from a recognized university.

The student should have a minimum of 50 percent marks in the Bachelors course. However, students of reserved category are given a relaxation of 5 percent marks in this.

There is no age limit for students after Bachelors degree.

Students of final year of Bachelors degree can also apply for CAT, but admission in the course after the exam is given only after completing the Bachelors degree.

Students of degrees like CA/CS/ICWA etc. can also apply for CAT.

There is no limit on the Number of Attempts for this exam.

 CAT Exam Fees

The fee for CAT exam has to be paid through online mode. To pay the fee online, we get many options like debit card, credit card, UPI, net banking and online wallet etc. The fee fixed for CAT exam is as follows:-

Exam Pattern of CAT Exam

The exam pattern revised by IIM Ahmedabad in the year 2021 is expected to be the same in 2022 as well. On this basis, the question paper of CAT exam will be divided into 3 parts in which the student will have to solve 66 questions. The pattern of this exam will be as follows:-

CAT will be conducted in about 438+ centers in more than 158 cities in India.
This exam has to be solved in English language only.

120 minutes are given to solve the entire question paper.

The question paper will have three sections and 40 minutes will be given to solve each section.

 The question paper will contain MCQs and TITA-type questions.
The question paper will contain 66 questions out of which 70-75% will be MCQs and 25-30% will be TITA-type questions.
The three sections will be Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Quantitative Aptitude (QA), and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR).
The exam carries 3 marks for every correct answer and 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. However, there is no negative marking for non-MCQ questions.

Important Dates for CAT Exam

There are some important dates for CAT exam which you must know about so that you do not face any problem during the exam. We have given the information about these important dates below:-

All the information about CAT is released by IIM in the last week of July.

Application for the exam starts in the first week of August and the last date to apply is fixed as the last week of September.
If any mistake is made at the time of application, then time is given till the last week of September to correct it.
Admit Cards for CAT exam are issued by the third week of October, which you can download from the official website of CAT.
CAT exam is conducted in the month of November.
The answer key of this exam is released by the last week of November.
If you want to challenge any given question, then you are given some time from the month of December. Let us tell you that for this you have to pay about Rs 1,000 for each question.
The results of CAT EXAM are declared in the month of January.
