Google is an American multinational public company. This company has invested primarily in internet search and cloud computing, as well as advertising.

Currently, Google is known as the world's number one search engine. Searching for anything in the world will surely yield information. This is generally the view of Google. But the answer to the question of what Google is doesn't end there. The correct answer is that Google is a multinational company. In addition to its search engine, Google also provides a variety of services, such as internet analytics and cloud computing.

How was the name Google chosen?

Inspired by the word "Googol" in Edward Kasner and James Newman's book "Mathematics and Imagination," Larry Page and Sergey Brian began searching for a name for their search engine. "Googol" means 100 zeros followed by one.

The Founding of Google

It was founded by Stanford University students Larry Page and Sergey.  Google operates more than 1 million servers worldwide from its data centers. Google also produces desktop computer software, including Google Chrome and web browsing. Google is an American company that provides a variety of internet-related services and was founded in 1998. Google provides us with accurate information, allowing us to navigate anywhere.

Who first invented Google?

It's worth noting that Google wasn't founded by any prominent scientist or engineer. It was founded by just two students. Yes, just two students who invented Google while pursuing PhDs. Those two students are Larry Page and Sergey Brian. They were both students at the University of California, Berkeley. They met at the university in 1995. While studying there, they co-founded the search engine.


Then, in 1996, Larry Page and Sergey Brian decided to do something unique and extraordinary for their PhD research project. They thought it would be a great idea to rank websites and compare them with others. Back then, there was a different method for ranking websites. The number of times a search term appeared on a web page would determine the number of times a search term appeared. Their idea is now present in the form of Google. Initially, they named Google BACKRUB.

The following year, in 1997, it was renamed Google. It's a strange fact that Google's name is derived from a misspelling of the mathematical term "Googol." The word "Googol" actually means 1 followed by 100 zeros.

After this, Google's success continued to grow, and in 1998, Google created its first doodle homepage. But today, Google has over 2,000 Doodle homepages. And Google currently maintains a team of Doodle homepage designers worldwide.
In the year 2000, Google began climbing another ladder of success. Google had launched AdWords. Along with this, Google also began offering online advertising. In this field, Google was now considered one of the world's largest companies. Google now displayed ads from major companies in both text and video format, and charged them in return.

Following this, on April 1, 2004, Google launched its application, Gmail. With its launch, the application was also provided with ample data storage space. Currently, Gmail's data storage capacity has been further expanded.
On the strength of its success, Google had become the largest company. And in 2004-05, it acquired a map app company called Keyhole. Today, we know this map company as Google Maps, through which we find directions, get information about new places, and view maps of the entire world from the comfort of our homes.


Then, in 2006, Google made a sensation when it acquired YouTube, a major video-sharing company. Today, YouTube is at the pinnacle of its success. Every minute, 60 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube.

Google's success didn't stop there. In 2007, Google acquired Android, a major mobile operating system company. This is the most widely used operating system today.

In 2008, Google launched its own browser, Chrome. Chrome was officially launched by Google on September 2, 2008, and today it is recognized as the No. 1 browser worldwide.

In 2011, Larry Page was appointed Google's new CEO, and Eric Schmid was appointed Chairman. Eric Schmid currently serves as Google's Executive Chairman.
In 2011, Google launched Project+, which introduced real-life features, including applications like Facebook and Twitter.
Following this, Android's 4.1 update, Jelly Bean, was released in 2012.
On July 9, 2012, features like Google Voice Search and Google Now were introduced. However, we now know it as Google Assistant.

In 2013, the Google Glass device was introduced, allowing you to operate your mobile phone through your glasses. Subsequently, in 2015, Google introduced the VR Headset, which has become quite popular today.


When the Google Loon Project launched in 2016, internet access was developed in areas where it wasn't available. And in the same year, Google's first mobile phone, the Pixel, was launched.

Along with this, Google launched another service called Google Home. Through this service, you can control all the electronic devices in your home by speaking. You can also find answers to certain questions through it.

Following this, in 2017, Google launched another service called Google Lense, through which you can click a photo of any object and get information about it through Google Lens.
