Who will benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan?
Special provisions have been made for workers returning to their villages under the special reverse migration scheme. Only they will be eligible for the benefits of this scheme so that they do not face a serious livelihood crisis.
According to government information, this campaign will run for 125 days. A list of 25 types of work has been prepared for providing employment to migrant workers who have returned home. A package of Rs. 50,000 crore has been allocated for this purpose. This is drawn from the Rs. 20 lakh crore economic package announced by the central government.
Objective of the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana
This scheme focuses on approximately 6 million migrant workers in 120 districts. The government aims to provide employment to workers who have returned home after the lockdown imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 50 districts in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have been included in this scheme. Government officials have stated that data from states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, which have already prepared skill mapping of migrant workers who have returned to their states, will also be analyzed. Based on this, the allocation of work under the scheme will be made.
